MARY PEARSON

Mary Pearson is a performance maker, re-claimed dancer, former entertainer, and co-organiser. Her multi-disciplinary practice is rooted in improvisation and collaboration. Her projects ask complex and troubling social questions. In a hungry, haunted cis-white-female body, she dances towards braver visions of liberation. Between 2012-19, she made and toured 3 solo works and led ‘FAILURE lab’ workshops. She also facilitates one-to-one Somatic Experiencing® sessions. www.mpearsonater.com

She has taught in artist-led spaces and university contexts including: Ponderosa P.O.R.C.H., contactfestival Freiburg, Improspecjie festival (Zagreb), Independent Dance (London), Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (LIPA). Works supported/presented in the UK by Arts Council England, the Bluecoat, Metal Culture, Dance4.

She has co-organised and created events with and for Ponderosa, Migrant Artists Mutual Aid and Liverpool Improvisation Collective, namely: Con|VERGE and REMIX residencies, ECITE 2014, Proximity: New Directions in Art and Social Repair conference, Raw Roar Rare conference/festival, and If Only! performance series.
