Isidora Vincenteli – To Faun the Fawn
To Fawn the Faun is a research project that traces lived experiences of survival intelligence and wild resonance, exploring how performance can metabolise the space between them.
Flowing through the body of the deer, the central axis of my research, I explore two cervine figures:
Fawn ~ Fight Flight Freeze or Fawn: to appease power and to evoke the young deer.
soft body>>head tilted>>jugular exposed>>movement initiated in response>>
Faun ~ Faunas, Pan: the mythic figure of embodied wild resonance.
the echo>>the ripple>>the reverb>>the swarm>>energy spilling freely through soft muscles allowing vibration to circulate>>
Dancers know both figures intimately through kinesthetic empathy. Working at the intersection of theatrical affect and performance art’s conceptual rigour, I approach fawning not as trauma to fix, but as ecological intelligence shaped through strategic compliance under patriarchy and late capitalism.
During my time at Lake Studios I will explore what happens when these archetypes meet in the studio, braiding the modern and mythic, deepening experiential research into negotiations with power, compliance and relation that shape everyday life.
