SUPER SUPERSTAR is a growing work integrating live video feed and pre recorded video projection. As the performer interacts with these video channels, simultaneous layers of one single experience of creating. These layers collide: pop stars and normal girls are revealed to be the same person, screen self and stage self are transposed to exist in the same time and place, and perceived self and ideal self confront each other with shocking honesty. Dancers’ limbs transform to heavy ribbons and string, dragged through soft mud. Under the spotlight of the audience’s gaze, the goop melts from their skin. As the private ecstasies of becoming are made visible, the shimmering friction of being seen forces explosive collisions of identity that rattle SUPER SUPERSTARS performers and viewers alike.
