Dr. Maiada Aboud exits/endings : decolonising memories and deaths.

Acts of resistance in the face of exits and endings-

‘If the ordinary and the everyday is portrayed as threatening it throws a doubt on your assumptions about the world around you…you begin to have to ask yourself questions, about power relationships, about who is oppressing or manipulating whom.’- Mouna Hatoum.
In times of endless crises in the Middle East and genocide in Gaza, were corpses of children are seen daily on the news, the need for freedom and liberty is much more vital. Palestinian art forms need to take a different approach to become a live testimony in order to help in decenturing white supremacy and recentering indigenous structures in order to make our voice much clearer and validated. Therefore, revisiting death’s stories/exits through artistic representations, while still reflecting on power structures within the art sector is becoming a necessity. I will focus on death in performance, mourning rituals and the silencing/ghosting of cultural practices within the documentations of Palestinian deaths. I will try to answer the question : How could imagination regarding our deaths heal our lives?Questions, new ideas, hopes, and prospects will be discussed throughout the project realisation and performance.
