Omer Keinan is a dance artist and researcher based in Stockholm and Berlin. His work takes an irreverent approach to embodied knowledge, playing with the experience of becoming a body. As a choreographer, Omer has presented his works throughout Europe, dealing with themes of mythology as world-making, mysticism as faith-making, and conflict as community-making. As a researcher, he is the founder of the dance laboratory Blue Sky, most recently in collaboration with ccap (SE) and nein9 kollektiv (DE), and participates in the archival research project Dance Tales (SI). Omer holds an MFA in New Performative Practices from Stockholm University of the Arts (SE), and has studied choreography in SEAD (AU) and dance at the Maslool (IL).

EMBODIED MYTH
LAB: 17 & 18 September | 9:30 – 13:30h
How do the stories we tell affect our sense of body? Through variations on games like charades, we will play with embodying and representing stories from daily life. We will explore how bodies come to signify and how movements, gestures, and compositions come to hold specific meanings for practitioners and witnesses. Then, utilizing tools from dance, physical theater, and somatic practice, we will take on the role of the mythologist: investigating what other meanings, sensations, and relations these “body-signs” evoke, how they can be choreographed, and what all this may teach us about how our bodies are organized by shared narratives and habits.
MYTHOLOGIES
PERFORMANCE: 19 September | 19h, DOUBLE BILL with Koffi-Kégou Afiadegnigban
Mythologies is a performance event about the ways we story our experiences, and the ways storytelling shapes our relationship with the world and ourselves. The audience is invited to share stories from their daily lives, which we will then bring into the space and play with. As stories become dances, they enter the wobbly terrain of embodiment, wherein their meaning and sense-making are unravelled. As multiple stories are woven together, they slip and crack, allowing us to scandalize and disturb the narratives our bodies have come to hold.
