Katia Pacheco is an independent multidisciplinary artist from Puerto Rico, currently based in the U.K. Her creative universe explores Afro-Caribbean mysticism and futurism across contemporary dance, theatre, film, and literature. Within her practice, Katia carves out ideas on paper for stories and characters which she later develops in improvisational tasks that help her create a language movement based upon the character’s experience and emotional background. Her works include : Espectra (Fuerzafest 2021), LEONAS EN CONRETO (Contempora Fest 2024), A mares (video piece for concert 2025) , Estudio: solos de A mares (PRAI Residency 2025). THRESHOLD DIVE

In this workshop, Threshold Dive, we explore through improvisational tasks the sound of voice and character-building around the mythical figure of the Afro-Caribbean mermaid. We will visit existing literature on the subject and create new narratives born from guided improvisational tasks.
