KISS [UNPACKED]
LAB: 23 – 24 JULY | 10-16H
The workshop opens up the creation process of the KISS choreography (2022) focusing on a path from an analysis of the musical material through dance-historical research and technical studies to the development of the original choreography. During the workshop I will share some of my research tools, materials used in the work process and teach excerpts of the original choreography while explaining how it was constructed. Second part of the workshop will offer space for the participants to apply some of these tools in creating their own short choreographic sequences within the universe of KISS. The workshop is open to all regardless of their technical or musical training, there is always a possibility to sit down and observe.
KISS
PERFORMANCE: 26 JULY | 21H (DOUBLE BILL with Marlon Barrios Solano)
KISS, a work for three dancers, evolved alongside Prince’s posthumously released album Piano & A Microphone 1983. Choreographed by Kasia Wolińska and premiered during the 2022 SENSE series at Radialsystem, the piece celebrates dance as a powerful, joyous expression of life. Drawing inspiration from Prince’s effortless mastery of diverse aesthetics and the album’s rich musical tapestry, the choreography establishes a dynamic framework for the intricate interplay between the dancers’ bodies and their connection to the audience’s physical and affective experience. It playfully explores a range of techniques, qualities, and legacies of dance, reviving its emotional resonance and musicality. The result is a vibrant, shared experience of movement and connection, brimming with energy and rhythm.
For the SUBMERGE show, there will be a bonus part with a DJ set by Marisa Ngakegny aka Femdelic.
