SUBMERGE 2025 — Cécile Bally & Cathy Walsh

LAB: 25 – 26 July | 10-16h

PERFORMANCE: 27 July | 17h

Cécile Bally (FR/DE) is a Berlin-based artist working across choreography, theater and scenography, who anchors her work in strong performative states and worldbuilding. Cécile uses DIY magic, absurd humor and maximalist scenography to trigger dreams and nightmares, as well as to interrogate the role of narration in performance. Her performances are rooted in the genres of science fiction and magical realism, which she uses to examine how specific entities (for instance vampires, supermarkets and suburbs) give rise to utopian and dystopian visions.

Cathy Walsh (IE/DE) is a dance artist, lighting technician and intimacy coordinator. She has a BA in Theatre Studies (UCC), an MA in Contemporary Dance (UL) and a diploma in Ensemble Performance Practice (QUB. She creates interactive experiences, blurring the distinction between performer and audience, inviting them to participate in an intimate exchange together. Her work is provocative and entertaining, combining dance, improvisation and playful conversation, with the body as the driving force.
