Julia Biłat
Julia Biłat is a classically trained cellist, improviser, composer, and performer based in Berlin since 2014. She is dedicated to her exploratory, genre-bending practice at the intersection of improvisation, composition, and performance, challenging the norms of the typical concert format in search of a more direct connection with the audience. In addition to performing as an improvising and classical cellist, Julia’s work on holistic and radical improvisation is deeply inspired by Butoh, placing the transformative quality of the body and its impact on sound and performance at the center of her interests.Since 2018, Julia Biłat has been a member of Stegreif, the Improvising Symphony Orchestra, which explores the possibilities of improvisation within a symphony orchestra and revolutionizes the image of a classical music ensemble. Julia Biłat has been regularly commissioned to compose and lead several productions for Stegreif.Orchestra, such as “Moon Music I: Abschied” at the Neuköllner Oper Berlin and “#Bechange: Feeling,” which premiered in July 2022 at the Kissinger Sommer Festival in Bad Kissingen, Germany.
Almoudena Vernhes
Graduated in Philosophy, she continues her studies Physical Theatre, dance improvisation and performance.She’s especially interested in the practice of site-specific creations and her research aims to question and challenge the relation body-space.She creates interactive performed installations and ephemeral dispositives at the intersection of different mediums and technologies to address subjects revolving around sexuality, intimacy, brutality, mental health, public space.Based in Berlin since 2018, she has worked and collaborated with cie David Fernandez, interdisciplinary Blush Collectiv, among others.
