Jacob Reynolds and Miriam Eskildsen

Jacob and Miriam are Freelance Dance and Visual Artists whose practices straddle the worlds of Movement, Video and the Written form.

Jacob Reynolds is a Freelance artist currently working in the realms of Dance, Choreography and Film/Cinematography. He resides in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand). He strives to create work. In ideal circumstances this work might provide some insight into his worldview. His interests lie at the intersection of human interconnection and ideological frameworks, in the tension between belief and experience, between the personal and structural.

Miriam Eskildsen is interested in crafting character-driven choreography, crafting vivid and often melancholy inner-worlds, and the aesthetic and emotional possibilities of theatricality as a form of vulnerability. As a dancer, she works primarily with movement isolation techniques to create textured and idiosyncratic movement pathways.

Since graduating from Unitec Institute of Technology in 2020 they have both worked as independent artists throughout Aotearoa as well as internationally. Working with companies such as The New Zealand Dance Company, Footnote Dance Company, DancePlant Collective among others as dancers or choreographers.

They have also presented independent works through Solveig Movement and Measuredfrenzyco in festivals Poneke Festival of Contemporary Dance, Tempo Dance Festival, The New Zealand Fringe Festival and residencies both at home and overseas.
