Dr. Maiada Aboud

Maiada Aboud’s work deals with ways that social, political and religious structures interconnect and influence the individual. Using performance art, she draws on a unique and personal perspective. Born in Palestine (Haifa), graduated from Haifa University, and received her education in the UK: where she obtained her Masters at Coventry University, and her PhD at Sheffield Hallam University.

Her study attempts to connect the political cultural analysis to the individual’s experience by using performance and relating it to memory, trauma and social life. The intention is to investigate cultural identity and memory using endurance techniques with the objective to establish if these traumas and memories are linked to collective identities and collective pain. Her work incorporates research, installations, video, body performances through collaborative projects across Europe and the Levant.
