Billie Bryerton

Billie Bryerton is a freelance dancer, choreographer, and multimedia artist based in Berlin. They are particularly interested in exploring dance in relation to ecology, queerness, and social justice; often finding inspiration in the natural world and influenced by the political climate.Their background in classical ballet paired with a fascination for the whimsical, the experimental, and the socially engaged draws them towards performance that integrates athleticism, technicality, and classically inspired shapes recklessly distorted.
Billie grew up on a small farm in Virginia and began their dance journey at Charlottesville Ballet Academy, attending programs at Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Burklyn Ballet Theater, Colorado Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, and Orslina28. At the Univerisity of South Carolina, they developed a love for creation and choreographed several works for the student company. In 2024, they graduated from the Betsy Blackman Dance Program Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Dance Performance & Choreography, and a B.A.J.M.C. in Visual Communications, also being named the Journalism School’s Designer of the Year. During their time at USC, they had the privilege of studying under artists from Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Company, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Janis Brenner & Dancers. They then spent a season performing with Dogwood Dance Project and choreographing for the company’s youth ensemble before making the move to Berlin in summer 2025.
Since moving to Berlin, they have premiered a new solo at the TANZ MIT! Festival and participated in the creation process for a new work by Scott Jennings, Open Arena, and performed at Dock 11. They are currently performing with Soul Soup and Ampelos Collectives while continuing to develop original work.
