Unfinished Fridays, established 2014, is a free, recurring dance performance series at LAKE Studios featuring new works and excerpts by local and international resident artists and special guests.
The evening comprises 3 to 4 work-in-progress pieces followed by a moderated discussion to help propel these creations into their next phase of production.

To Fawn the Faun

To Fawn the Faun is a solo performance tracing lived experiences of survival intelligence and wild resonance through the body of the deer. The stage becomes a site where modern and mythic worlds meet, tracing the body’s negotiations with power, vulnerability and our inherent desire to resonate.
Social fawning – often understood as a feminised behaviour of appeasement- is approached not as trauma to fix, but as ecological intelligence shaped through strategic compliance under patriarchy and late capitalism. Perhaps it is even a wisdom, echoing the mythic body of the faun: a body of resonance, instinct and wild relation.
Can strategic submission open underground spaces for resonance to thrive? Who is she, this evolved fauwn?

Emerging from the fable as from the mud, the ant builds and behaves, while the cicada digs and then sings. Facing each other, they ask a simple and cruel question: “Why?” Through this attempt to answer, they discover that each one already contains something of the other: labour and song, survival and desire, necessity and waste. Like a fragile yin and yang, the work-in-progress explores the tension between productivity, pleasure, guilt, and the right to exist beyond usefulness.
