SUMMARY:ABOUT DANCE\, SUBMERGE FESTIVAL 2026 EDITION: Decolonising Non-Violent Communication
DESCRIPTION:FORUM registration\n\n\n\nPerformance TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA special edition of LAKE’s ongoing forum series\, held inside the SUBMERGE 2026 Festival. The forum kicks off Saturday\, 19 September at 11h with a performance by Siegmar Zacharias. The perforamnce will be followed by a workshop\, discussions\, a shared meal and garden reflections. \n\n\n\nBuilding on last year’s Forum\, we will continue exploring what it means to decolonise Non-Violent Communication. Non-Violent Communication (NVC)\, while powerful\, often reflects colonial norms—centering neutrality\, politeness\, and individualism over embodied truth\, relational accountability\, and structural awareness. This workshop invites you to decolonise NVC by rooting communication in the body\, history\, and interdependence. We’ll explore how to meet conflict not with avoidance\, but with presence—especially in times of crisis and polarization. Through somatic practices and collective dialogue\, we’ll unlearn habits of dominance masked as “peace\,” and build tools for courageous\, relational conflict work. This is a space to feel\, speak\, and listen in ways that honour complexity\, connection\, and the transformative potential of discomfort. \n\n\n\nABOUT DANCE – forming futures is an exchange forum for professional dance and performance artists that addresses themes of precarity and possibility in the dance and performance sphere. Each forum is structured and hosted by invited guest artists. The format of the forum is intended to be experimental\, interactive\, and grounded as much in discussion as in movement.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSiegmar Zacharias is performer\, death-doula\, herbalist and researcher. At the intersection of art\, radical pedagogy and activism\, she develops performances\, immersive installations and curatorial encounter spaces that deal with generative ethical dynamics of transformation: Agency\, decolonization of knowledge\, ecologies of artistic and social practice. She works with humans and more-than-humans\, uncontrollable material such as smoke\, slime\, saliva\, the human nervous system and grief.
